GOLDENSTATE JOB’S FAIR and SYMPOSIUM 2011: A GLARING SUCCESS

SPECIAL GUEST FROM TESDA, DOLE AND THE US EMBASSY DURING THE  JOBS FAIR 2011True to its commitment of giving back to the community the services it needs, Goldenstate Colllege in cooperation with RD Corporation held its annual Job’s Fair and Symposium at KCC Mall of Gensan Convention Center this City on March 18, 2011. The one-day affair was divided into two parts: Opening Program in the morning and Symposium conducted by the different agencies in the afternoon simultaneous with the conduct of the Special Orientation to the local law enforcers of Gensan by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)-Department of Homeland Security, US Embassy Manila.


The program was opened with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting led by Mr. James Illusorio, ICE Attaché-US Embassy, Atty. Gloria Tango, DOLE Regional Director, Warren Manilay, Ph.D, GSC-CEO, among others. It was highlighted at the conclusion of the opening program with the formal declaration of Job’s Fair Opening by Dir. Patricio Blanza of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) SarGen.

In the afternoon, the US Department of Homeland Security thru ICE Deputy Attache Eric McLoughlin discussed its agency’s role in the fight against human trafficking and other related crimes in the US and around the world. Public Employment Services Office (PESO) and DOLE respectively gave talks too regarding their agency’s role in the employment opportunities of the youth and other job-seekers. RD Corporation, a major partner of Goldenstate in this year’s Job’s Fair, finally discussed its role and commitment in the community development thru employment opportunities.

Simultaneous with the symposium is the special orientation conducted by the US Embassy visitors to the local law enforcers in this City specifically the Philippine Army and its Reserved Force. The said forum briefed the attendees re the role of ICE in the pursuit against human trafficking and other crimes around the world.

As per DOLE Terminal Report on the Job’s Fair, there were 40 local and 10 Overseas Participating Companies/Recruitment Agencies that attended this year’s job’s fair. Of the 638 registered job applicants, 552 applied locally and 86 overseas respectively. Out of those who were interviewed, 34 applicants were hired on-the-spot (HOTS), 51 were qualified applicants (Q), and 127 applicants needed trade test (ATT), 233 applicants needed Employers Final Approval (AEFA).

Overall, it was simply a great success!
