"This is to promote the essence of marriage and how it is being expressed in a Filipino wedding ceremony..." was the content of the opening remarks of Counselor Meg Santos, who was partnered with Atty. Pau Acharon to be the honorary couple during the launching of the "Kasalan sa Gensan", a Wedding Fair and exhibit held at Gaisano Mall of Gensan last June 19, 2009.
Headed by the Chairman and emcee of the fair, Mr. Orman Manasala, the event of exhibition and competition was participated by the 27 well-kwon business firms in General Santos City, some of which are, Mix 'n Magic, family country Hotel East Asia Royale Hotel, Ever Bilena for beauty and fitness, Arnevel's Food Catering Services, Tierra Montaqna, GSC GArdener's Coop., Marasa Grill, Ciara's Catering Services, and the Goldenstate College & Catering Services which occupied the biggest space both for the student category and the professional category.
With the private collections of Mr. & Mrs. Warren Manilay, the owners of Goldensate College, the golden motif wedding at the Cardinal's Palace with a fabulous table set up for six honored guests was conceptualized and built by Mr. Sonny Biana, Mr. Seseng Oblena, Mr. Wency Layson, Mr. Ferdie Alcantara and some of the assiduous faculty and staff of the school for the professional category. Mrs. Sarah Jane Manilay showcased her 3-layered "baggage-like cake in ecru and gold trimmings" that enhanced the beauty of the wedding's setting. It was very tempting to taste and eat at that time.
The Goldenstate College's student entry appeared to be a romantic garden wedding set-up for newlyweds; using the traditional and common materials such as flowers, greens, vines, crystals & lightning gold cutleries. It showed indeed the filipinism in the overall design.
After all the efforts and hardships, Goldenstate College has emerged as the Grand Champion, bagging the entire major awards: Best in Table Setting for Students Category, Best in Booth, and Best Buffet Centerpiece. It was indeed a victory for the school.
The day was, furthermore, filled with love and romance as the affair was also visited by many lovers, who soon would like to experience the elegant and classy setting of the Goldenstate's Wedding at the Cardinal's Palace.
