General Santos City – Same as the famous song line “Love is all that matters…” popularized by a foreign artist, so is the prevailing ambience of the seminar-workshop conducted by one of the country’s great hairstylists James Cooper at the Student lounge of the new edifice of Goldenstate College as he keynoted to the audience “loving yourself, loving your work, loving what you do” to achieve goals.

James Parker San Miguel Cooper, Jr. (popularly known as James Cooper), Hair Asia Hall of Famer and the 1st Filipino to be internationally recognized as Beauty Guru, invaded Goldenstate College by sharing his knowledge and precious time to its whole populace through the five-day seminar-workshop dubbed “Learn to love yourself” on October 1-5, 2009. No less than the top brass of the school headed by Mr. & Mrs. Warren and Sara Jane Manilay (owners), School Prexy Josie Yap-Tirador, MBA, School Administrator/Students’ Affairs Head Ferdinand Alcantara, MAEd, and Carlos Alcones, MIB (Acting Guidance Counselor) witnessed the opening program of this rare event.

In his well-attended discussion-demo, Mr. Cooper emphasized the need to love one’s self, the will to do his desire, and the zeal to dream BIG – which usually instills optimism to an individual despite a variety of ordeals faced. True enough, he even exemplified his own personal and encouraging experience to illustrate how does this formula o success work. Topics like Professional Ethics, Hygiene and Good Grooming, Visual Poise, and Personality Development were discussed to the audience of attentive students of all courses. To put more icing on a well-decorated cake, Mr. Cooper and his team selected among the eager audience models who were given free actual haircut and makeover of which James himself had a hand, much to the delight of the participants.

“There is a need to look beautiful despite the problems we are facing today,” was the striking statement of School Admin/HOSA Ferdie Alcantara, MAEd in his opening remarks. Indeed, everybody felt and looked beautiful after the event as Mr. Cooper made a sweet love affair with Goldenstate in five days.
